about

Obitum Placidissimum (“A Very Peaceful Death” in Latin) is the fourteenth album from Rove Monteux, accompanying his nineteen singles, in his solo career into Classical, Cinematic, Drama, Neobaroque and Neoclassical music.

Themed around a funeral invitation by Jacobi Richelli from 1693, the album goes, in sequence, through Obitum Placidissimum (“a very peaceful death”, the invitation), Obitum Cruciatissimum (“a very tormented death”, a more realistic version of the event), Funus Duceretur (“the funeral will be conducted”, the introduction to the ceremony), Funus Martii (“march’s funeral/funeral march”, the nickname of the ceremony), Vincit Patientia A Deo Data (“God-given patience wins”, a lifetime upon death), Sequi Me (“follow me”, we will all follow the same path), Finis Viae (“the end of the road”, the point of no return).
